A History of the North Sydney Bears
A History of the North Sydney Bears
North Sydney joined the inaugural Australian Rugby League competition in 1908, and provided Australia’s first captain of a Kangaroo Tour squad to England, in Dinny Lutge.
After a golden period in the 1920s, Norths struggled for the rest of their time in the league. They made sporadic trips to the finals, and were regulars in the 1990s, before falling victim to the Super League war.
Players such as Harold Horder, Cec Blinkhorn, Duncan Thompson, Frank Hyde, Brian Carlson, Ken Irvine, Don McKinnon, Mark Graham, and Greg Florimo are forever etched in the history of the North Sydney Bears.
Relive each year of North Sydney’s journey in a round by round account of the premier rugby league competition. Including statistical information, this is a must for rugby league fans.
